A module that disappears into the device
The BT01 takes the form of a small plastic box fitted with a multi-pin connector at one end. This connector plugs into the extension port located at the rear of the IOTAVX amplifier or network player. A mechanical key prevents any insertion error: simply align the module and push it into place. Power is supplied through the connector itself, which means no separate power cable is needed. Once installed, the module sits flush with the surface of the rear panel, without protruding or interfering with the other connections. Setup is simply a matter of selecting the Extension Port input from the host device’s input selector or its remote control.
Digital transmission, local conversion
IOTAVX’s technical choice deserves a closer look. Unlike a conventional Bluetooth receiver that delivers an analog signal (often via a mini-jack or RCA output), the BT01 transmits the audio stream in digital form, in I2S and S/PDIF, directly to the host device’s built-in converter. On the SA3, it is the onboard Wolfson converter that handles digital-to-analog conversion. This approach avoids adding an extra conversion stage to the chain and takes advantage of the converter already present in the amplifier, whose quality has been calibrated by IOTAVX for all of its digital inputs.
The selected codec is aptX HD, which allows a bitrate of 576 kbit/s with a 4:1 compression ratio, for an effective resolution of 24 bits at 48 kHz. This is not lossless (compression is still present), but it is a step above standard Bluetooth SBC and classic aptX limited to 16 bits / 48 kHz.
Pairing and everyday use
Pairing works in the usual way: the BT01 appears under the name “IOTAVX BT01” in the list of Bluetooth devices on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. The connection relies on Bluetooth 5.0, which provides better link stability and lower latency compared with earlier versions of the protocol.
Once paired, the module retains the pairing. Switching from a wired source to Bluetooth is done from the device’s input selector, just like with any other source. It is a transparent operation: start a track on Spotify or Apple Music from your phone, select the Bluetooth input on the amplifier, and playback begins through the hi-fi system’s speakers. No dedicated app is required.
Three compatible devices, one shared connector
The BT01 is compatible with the SA3 integrated amplifier, the NP3 network / CD player, and the AVX17 home theater processor. These three devices share the same rear extension port, which makes the module interchangeable from one device to another. The NP3 already has network playback capabilities (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, streaming services), but the BT01 adds the ability to receive a Bluetooth stream from a mobile device, which can be useful for a guest or for quick use without going through the local network. On the SA3, which is an integrated stereo amplifier without native network functions, the BT01 is the only way to add wireless playback. On the AVX17, it opens up the same possibility in a multichannel context.

Does the BT01 work with devices from other brands?
No. The connector is proprietary and specific to IOTAVX devices equipped with an extension port (SA3, NP3, AVX17). It cannot be plugged into an amplifier or player from another brand.

The BT01 works like a standard Bluetooth receiver: it maintains one active connection with only one source device at a time. To switch to another smartphone or tablet, you must disconnect the current device and pair the new one.
Is aptX HD supported by all smartphones?
Support for aptX HD depends on the transmitting smartphone. Most high-end Android phones support this codec. iPhones do not support aptX HD (Apple uses its own AAC codec for Bluetooth). The BT01 remains compatible with these devices via the basic Bluetooth codecs (SBC, AAC), but without benefiting from 24-bit / 48 kHz resolution.
Does the BT01 add noticeable latency for video playback?
Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD reduces latency compared with older versions of the protocol, but a slight audio-video delay may remain, as with any Bluetooth receiver. For music playback, this latency is imperceptible. For synchronized video, the result also depends on the source device and the app used.
