This first subwoofer from the brand combines a rigorous technical approach with next-generation wireless connectivity, offering a modular solution capable of radically transforming low-frequency reproduction in any home audio system.

Sophisticated acoustic design for controlled bass

The Sub Pro adopts a particularly well-considered acoustic architecture, centered around an 8-inch long-excursion driver. This bass unit is mounted in a down-firing configuration, projecting sound waves toward the floor through a specially designed cavity. This cavity, open on two sides of the enclosure, forms a horizontal through-slot that acts as a sophisticated acoustic loading system.

This design approach, which some acoustic engineers describe as a “moderate acoustic bandpass,” optimizes coupling between the speaker and the listening room. The driver thus benefits from controlled acoustic loading that improves its efficiency in the lowest frequencies. The port integrated into this same cavity helps extend the response toward the bottom of the spectrum, making it possible to reach the claimed 25 Hz with harmonic distortion kept below 1%.

The enclosure itself benefits from particularly careful anti-vibration treatment. Its rigid structure, developed to minimize unwanted resonances, guarantees precise reproduction even at high volume levels. The piano black lacquer finish, beyond its visual elegance, contributes to the overall rigidity of the assembly. The amplification stage is based on a Class D topology delivering 250 watts, power more than sufficient to drive the transducer across its entire dynamic range. This digital architecture offers several advantages in the context of a subwoofer: excellent energy efficiency, low heat generation, and the ability to maintain its performance over long listening sessions. The high sensitivity of 104 dB SPL guarantees comfortable power headroom, allowing the Sub Pro to handle the most dynamic passages without audible compression.

The integrated signal processing is one of the Sub Pro’s strong points. The 10-band parametric equalizer accessible via the WiiM Home app offers surgical control of the response curve. Each band can be adjusted independently in frequency, gain, and quality factor (Q), making it possible to precisely correct the room modes of the listening space. Phase settings (0° or 180°) and time delay ensure perfect integration with the main speakers, eliminating unwanted cancellation or reinforcement problems at crossover frequencies.

RoomFit: artificial intelligence serving home acoustics

RoomFit technology is probably the Sub Pro’s most significant innovation. This automatic calibration system uses the microphone of the smartphone or tablet to analyze the room’s acoustics. The process generates frequency sweep signals that make it possible to measure the room’s impulse response, identifying resonances, nodes, and antinodes of standing waves.

Once the analysis is complete, the algorithm automatically calculates the corrections to be applied. These adjustments take into account not only the room’s acoustic characteristics, but also the subwoofer’s placement and the preferred listening position. The system adjusts equalization, phase, and delay to achieve an optimized frequency response in the listening area. This automated approach makes calibration accessible to everyone, whereas it previously required in-depth technical knowledge and specialized measurement equipment.

RoomFit calibration runs from the WiiM device with which the Sub Pro is paired, allowing seamless integration into the ecosystem. The system also supports separate calibration of the main speakers when a subwoofer is present, ensuring optimal consistency across the entire playback system.

Hybrid connectivity: the best of both worlds

The Sub Pro offers a particularly flexible connectivity approach. In wireless mode, it uses Wi-Fi 6E to establish a stable, low-latency connection with compatible WiiM devices. This latest-generation standard, operating on the 6 GHz band, offers high bandwidth and remarkable immunity to interference. Bluetooth 5.3 with support for SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs provides an alternative for non-WiiM sources, although the Wi-Fi connection remains preferred for its superior performance.

The analog mono RCA input allows universal integration with any amplifier or receiver featuring a subwoofer output. This versatility guarantees compatibility with existing systems, whether they are part of the WiiM ecosystem or from other brands. The RJ45 Ethernet port provides a wired network connection for installations where absolute stability takes priority over the convenience of wireless.

A particularly smart aspect of the design lies in energy management. The Sub Pro automatically detects the presence of a signal on the RCA input to wake from standby, eliminating the need for manual intervention. In the absence of a signal, it automatically returns to standby mode after a programmable delay, thus optimizing power consumption without compromising system responsiveness.

The WiiM ecosystem: natural integration

For users already equipped with WiiM products, the Sub Pro integrates seamlessly. It can synchronize wirelessly with WiiM Mini, Pro, and Pro Plus streamers, even when the latter do not have a dedicated subwoofer output. This capability considerably expands the upgrade possibilities of existing systems. Pairing with the WiiM Amp and Amp Ultra amplifiers fully leverages bass management capabilities, with unified control from the WiiM Home app.

Multiroom integration is another major asset. When connected wirelessly to a WiiM device, the Sub Pro can join multiroom groups, perfectly synchronizing its playback with that of the other zones. This feature makes it possible to envision sophisticated configurations where several Sub Pros could theoretically be deployed for optimal coverage of large rooms, although this possibility is not available at launch.
