Loewe Stellar 83 DR+
Awards
IF Product Design Award
The iF Design Awards, created in 1953, represent one of the world's leading design competitions. Each year, it attracts over 1,800 participants from 30 different countries. The jury, composed of globally renowned designers, not only examines and selects the chosen products but also adheres to stringent requirements to maintain a high-quality label.
Overview
Assembling an OLED panel in a Bavarian factory, framing it in faceted-cut aluminum, and integrating a front-facing soundbar: the sixth generation of the stellar range takes this approach to a 210-centimeter diagonal. The Stellar 83 DR+ combines a factory-calibrated Ultra HD image, a dual-tuner recording system, and a finish that embraces its presence in the room, where many large televisions try to fade into the background.
A factory-calibrated OLED image
The panel is an LG Display open-cell OLED (LTY module), assembled and finished by Loewe in its factory in Kronach, Bavaria. Ultra HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels across a 210 cm diagonal, with a 1 ms response time and a 120-degree viewing angle both horizontally and vertically.
Each panel undergoes individual calibration at the factory, based on D65 white and RGB primary colors. The Stellar 83 DR+ supports HLG, HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, the latter in its IQ version (with IQ PD), which adapts the image to the room’s ambient light. The expanded color gamut (WCG) completes this support.
Typical luminance is around 1100 cd/m² measured on a 10% HDR window, a value better suited to a living room with controlled lighting than to a sun-drenched room. The deep blacks inherent to OLED, with no backlight, remain its main strength in this area. Image processing handles Ultra HD upscaling, automatic dimming, adaptive contrast, AI PQ mode, and cinema-standard 24p playback.
A frame carved from aluminum
The frame surrounds the panel on all four sides in brushed aluminum, with a faceted-cut profile that catches the light depending on the viewing angle. Two finishes are offered for this diagonal: Black Alu, with a dark frame and rear panel, and Matte Silver, which pairs a brushed aluminum frame with a matching rear panel. The aluminum back panel and 7 cm depth create a flat object, whose width incorporates the small signature side flag of about 1 cm.
The design comes from the Loewe Design & Innovation Studio and has received iF Design and Red Dot awards. Loewe magic.light adds ambient lighting adjustable in color, intensity, and saturation from the remote control, with a discreet animation when switching on and off. Cables disappear into an integrated cable management system on the back, keeping the outline clean once the television is placed or mounted.
A front-firing soundbar
Hidden beneath the lacquered metal grille is an active soundbar with six drivers, powered by Class D amplification. Output reaches 2 x 75 watts RMS, or 2 x 150 watts peak music power, with a bass-reflex enclosure and two-way crossover. The sound projects forward, toward viewers, rather than downward as on many flat TVs: voices and dialogue benefit from greater presence.
Dolby Audio, Digital, Digital Plus, and Atmos formats are supported, as is DTS HD. Settings include an equalizer, automatic volume, AI AQ mode, and dynamic loudness correction. A center input in Cinch L/R format allows a specific use case: integrating the Stellar 83 DR+ as the center channel of a home theater setup, where it reproduces dialogue while separate speakers handle the other channels. The eARC output, meanwhile, connects a soundbar or external amplifier with a single HDMI cable.
Dual tuner and SSD recording
The dual-channel chassis and dual triple tuner form the basis of Loewe’s dr+ system. The tuners cover terrestrial TV (DVB-T2), cable (DVB-C), and satellite (DVB-S2), with DiSEqC and Unicable support for satellite installations. A 1 TB SSD is built into the television: silent, fast, and energy-efficient, it serves as the recording medium.
In practical terms, the dual tuner records one channel while you watch another, or captures two programs simultaneously, with a time-shift function for pausing live TV. The program guide supports up to 10,000 channels, and the CI+ V1.4 slot accepts an access module for encrypted channel packages. On the decoding side, the television supports HEVC (H.265) and the more recent H.266, in addition to standard MPEG formats. Recording to a USB drive remains an option, and the multi-view function is not available on this model.
The VIDAA interface and streaming
The proprietary os9 system is based on VIDAA, a responsive interface that manages apps and video-on-demand services. The app store includes Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, Deezer, and MagentaTV, complemented by free streaming channels via TV Channel+. Voice control works with Alexa Skills and VIDAA Voice, and the my Loewe app serves as both a remote control and a bridge to the television from a smartphone.
The media player, DLNA client, and built-in browser cover local file playback and sharing over the home network. Updates are handled via USB or the Internet. The menu is available in 34 languages, and convenience features such as parental control, timer, auto power-off, and hotel mode round out the package.
HDMI 2.1 and gaming compatibility
Connectivity includes four HDMI inputs, two of them HDMI 2.1 and two HDMI 2.0b. The two 2.1 ports support ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR up to 144 Hz, enough to keep up with a recent console or a PC using a variable refresh rate. The downside of this layout: only two demanding 4K high-frame-rate sources can be connected at the same time over HDMI 2.1, which requires some thought about cabling if you have several machines. HDCP 2.2, HDMI-CEC, ARC, and eARC are all included.
For the rest, the Stellar 83 DR+ offers one USB-A port at 1.0 A and another at 2.0 A, two USB-C ports, Bluetooth, Miracast, AirPlay, and Matter. Network connection is via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, with wake-on-LAN support. An optical TOSLINK output, a stereo output, and a 3.5 mm jack subwoofer output cover audio needs, at fixed or variable level. Home automation is handled via IP and the Control4, Crestron, and Basalte protocols.
Wall mounting and optional stands
On delivery, the Stellar 83 DR+ comes with its integrated stellar wall mount, in a fixed installation, which keeps the television close to the wall for a total depth of 7.1 cm. No tabletop stand is included as standard: for placement on furniture, you need the optional motorized stellar table stand, which then brings the height to 122.7 cm and the depth to 41 cm. The stellar motorized floor stand and the wall mount slim 432 are also among the available solutions.
These motorized mounts enable the Loewe magic.motion function: silent rotation of up to 45 degrees to the left or right, activated from the remote control, to point the screen toward the sofa or the table. Allow for 187.5 cm in width, 116.5 cm in height, and 7 cm in thickness, with a weight of about 50.8 kg on its own, 52.5 kg with the wall mount. The mount complies with the VESA 400 x 200 standard. The model does not have a Kensington lock.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Stellar 83 DR+ made in Germany?
Loewe assembles and finishes the OLED modules in its factory in Kronach, Bavaria, where development, construction, and quality control also take place. The open-cell panel comes from LG Display, but the individual calibration, installation of the aluminum frame, and final assembly are handled at the German site. The design comes from the Loewe Design & Innovation Studio.
Can the screen be adjusted once installed?
Only with an optional motorized stand. The wall mount supplied as standard is fixed and keeps the TV flush against the wall. To rotate the screen up to 45 degrees to the left or right via the remote control, you must choose the table stand motor stellar or the floor stand motor stellar, which activate the magic.motion function. The rotation is silent and gradual.
Which HDR formats are supported?
The TV supports HLG used in broadcasting, HDR10, HDR10+ with dynamic metadata, and Dolby Vision. The latter is offered in the IQ version, with IQ PD, which adjusts the rendering according to the room’s lighting using the brightness sensor. The wide color gamut (WCG) accompanies these formats to cover a broader range of shades than the standard for conventional television.
How many programs can be recorded at the same time?
The dual-tuner dr+ system records one program while you watch another, or captures two channels simultaneously, all on the built-in 1 TB SSD. The time-shift function pauses live TV. Recording to a USB flash drive remains a separate option, and the multi-view function, which would display multiple sources side by side, is not offered on this model.
What does the H.266 codec bring?
H.266, also known as VVC, is a more recent video compression format than HEVC (H.265). It delivers an Ultra HD image at a lower bit rate, which is useful for broadcasting and very high-definition streaming. The Stellar 83 DR+ decodes it just like H.265, H.264, and older MPEG formats, which covers a wide range of sources.
