Loewe Stellar 55 DR+
Awards
IF Product Design Award
The iF Design Awards, created in 1953, represent one of the world's leading design competitions. Each year, it attracts over 1,800 participants from 30 different countries. The jury, composed of globally renowned designers, not only examines and selects the chosen products but also adheres to stringent requirements to maintain a high-quality label.
Overview
Founded in Berlin in 1923, Loewe designs and assembles its televisions at its Kronach factory in Bavaria. The Stellar 55 DR+ illustrates this vertical integration: the LG Display open-cell OLED panel is integrated into an in-house module with aluminum back-forming, individually calibrated at the factory, then paired with a diamond-cut machined aluminum frame. 139 cm diagonal in Ultra HD, two rear finishes to choose from, and dual tuner with internal SSD storage.
An OLED panel individually calibrated at the factory
The Stellar 55 uses a latest-generation open-cell OLED panel (LTY module) from LG Display. Peak luminance reaches around 2,200 cd/m² on a 10% HDR window, a high value for OLED technology, which traditionally peaks lower than LCD panels with Mini-LED backlighting. The 1 ms response time and 120° viewing angle horizontally as well as vertically match the expected characteristics of a self-emissive OLED panel: no light halo, absolute blacks, preserved uniformity off-axis.
Each panel receives individual color calibration at the factory: D65 white point and RGB primaries. The television supports all major HDR formats (HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail mode, HLG) and the expanded color gamut. Dolby Vision IQ compatibility adjusts tone mapping according to the room’s ambient brightness.
On the processing side, the video engine handles Ultra HD upscaling, automatic dimming, AI image analysis (AI PQ), adaptive contrast, and native 24p playback for cinema sources.
Two rear finishes to choose from
The two versions of the Stellar 42 dr+ share exactly the same technical foundation. The difference lies in the choice of materials, particularly the back of the screen. In both cases, the frame retains the same beveled brushed aluminum work, which Loewe refers to as “diamond cut,” but its shade varies depending on the finish.
The Concrete version combines a light brushed aluminum frame with a back made of real concrete reinforced with fiberglass, and not paint merely imitating its appearance: each unit features a slightly different mineral texture. The Lava version, meanwhile, pairs a matte black aluminum frame with a dark textured back, for rooms where the television is meant to blend into a dark wall.
Whatever the finish, the connections are concealed and the cables routed by an integrated organizer in the rear shell. On the side, a slim signature flag of around 1 cm recalls the brand and is included within the screen’s overall width.
Integrated front-firing soundbar
The sound module is a closed bar with passive membranes, ten transducers in total: six active and four passive radiator units. Power is 2 × 20 W RMS, 2 × 40 W music peak, with Class D amplification and two-way filtering. Sound is front-firing (and not directed downward as on most flat televisions), which improves dialogue intelligibility.
The audio electronics support Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Audio, and DTS HD, with automatic volume, adjustable equalizer, and dynamic loudness. A subwoofer output (3.5 mm jack) is available to add an active subwoofer. Unlike the 77- to 97-inch models, the Stellar 55 does not have a center input (Cinch L/R), which rules out use as a center channel in a multichannel home cinema installation.
HDMI 2.1 connectivity and gaming compatibility
Connectivity includes four HDMI inputs: two HDMI 2.0b and two HDMI 2.1. The two HDMI 2.1 ports support Ultra HD with ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) up to 144 Hz, enough to take full advantage of recent consoles and high-end PC graphics cards. HDCP 2.2, HDMI-CEC, ARC, and eARC are supported.
The rest of the connectivity includes two USB-C 1 A ports (rare on a television), one USB-A 1 A and one USB-A 2 A (compatible with the magic.motion accessory), an optical TOSLINK output, a CI+ V1.4 ECP slot, one IEC antenna input, and two F satellite inputs. On the network side: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay, Miracast, and Matter are supported, with wake on LAN and wake on Wi-Fi functions.
Vidaa OS and streaming services
The television runs on os9, the brand’s in-house operating system based on Vidaa. The interface provides access to an app store and major video-on-demand services: Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, YouTube, Deezer, MagentaTV. The TV Channel+ function groups together free ad-supported FAST channels. HD+ and Zattoo are also supported.
Voice control works through Vidaa Voice and Alexa Skills. The my Loewe app and the Vidaa Smart TV app allow control from an Android or iOS smartphone. Software updates are carried out via USB or the Internet, and a hotel mode is available for installations in hotel rooms or serviced residences.
Dual tuner and Loewe dr+ recording
The Loewe dr+ system is based on a dual-channel chassis and a dual triple tuner (DVB-T2, DVB-C, DVB-S2 HD). This configuration makes it possible to watch one program while recording another, or to record two broadcasts simultaneously on different transponders. An integrated SSD serves as the recording medium (capacity is not specified for this screen size in the Loewe technical sheet). Timeshift allows pausing live broadcast, and an external USB drive can serve as a backup medium.
DiSEqC and Unicable functions simplify multiple satellite installations, and the CI+ V1.4 ECP slot accepts a module for encrypted channels. Supported video codecs cover MPEG, MPEG2, MPEG4 (H.264), HEVC (H.265), and VVC (H.266). The program guide supports up to 10,000 channels. The multi-view function (simultaneous display of two sources) is not available on this model.
Home automation, magic.light, and installation solutions
Home automation is managed via IP, with confirmed compatibility for Control4, Crestron, and Basalte, three protocols used in high-end residential installations. The magic.light function illuminates the frame perimeter with a signature.ring light ring, adjustable in color (all the colors of the rainbow), brightness, and saturation from the remote control. The animation can accompany power-on and power-off, or discreetly illuminate the installation area during viewing.
The included tabletop stand swivels manually up to 45° on either side, with concealed cable routing. Several optional accessories make it possible to adapt the installation: floor stand motor stellar motorized floor stand (compatible with the magic.motion function, which swivels the panel by remote control), flex or universal floor stand for manual rotation, floor2ceiling support for suspension between floor and ceiling, wall mounts in several thicknesses including the particularly flat slim 432. The VESA 300 × 200 mount remains usable for any compatible third-party mounting system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Stellar 55 DR+ compatible with Dolby Atmos?
Yes. The television decodes Dolby Atmos via its built-in soundbar and can pass the stream to an external audio system via the HDMI eARC output or the optical TOSLINK output. Atmos playback through the built-in speakers alone remains limited by the physical configuration (front soundbar with ten drivers and no dedicated height speakers), even if virtual height processing is applied. For full Atmos playback, an external soundbar with height channels or a multichannel system with height speakers is preferable.
What is the capacity of the built-in SSD for dr+ recordings?
The Loewe technical sheet specifies the capacity of the built-in SSD only for screen sizes from 77 to 97 inches (1 TB). For the Stellar 55 DR+, the presence of an SSD is confirmed, but its capacity is not indicated. For substantial recording needs, an external USB drive can be added in addition via one of the four USB ports (two USB-A, two USB-C). The dual tuner allows the simultaneous recording of two broadcasts on different transponders.
Does the television come with a wall mount?
No. The Stellar 55 DR+ comes with its brushed aluminum swivel tabletop stand, manually rotating up to 45° to either side, with concealed cable management. The wall mount (wall mount stellar, slim 432 or universal) is an optional accessory that must be ordered separately. Only the Stellar 77 to 97 include a wall mount as standard. The VESA 300 × 200 mount remains compatible with any third-party mounting system that complies with this standard.
Which consoles and PC configurations take advantage of HDMI 2.1?
The two HDMI 2.1 ports support Ultra HD with VRR up to 144 Hz and ALLM. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, as well as PCs equipped with HDMI 2.1-compatible graphics cards, can take advantage of this for high refresh rate gaming or 4K 120 Hz with variable refresh rate. The other two HDMI 2.0b ports are suitable for standard sources: Ultra HD Blu-ray player, service provider set-top box, older console, satellite decoder.
Is the television compatible with AirPlay and Matter?
Yes to both. AirPlay lets you stream audio and video content from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac directly to the TV, without using an Apple TV. Matter compatibility connects the TV to a multi-brand home automation ecosystem, in addition to dedicated Control4, Crestron, and Basalte integrations managed via IP. Bluetooth and Miracast (for Android and Windows devices) are also supported for wireless streaming.
Is hotel mode available?
Yes. Hotel mode locks certain functions (accessible channels, maximum volume, access to settings) for use in a hotel room, serviced residence, or short-term rental. The software update can be performed via USB or the Internet, and the television integrates standard home automation protocols (Control4, Crestron, Basalte, Matter) to fit into a remotely managed installation.
