Loewe Stellar 97 DR+

Reaching 97 inches in OLED remains exceptional, even more so when the final assembly is done in the manufacturer’s Bavarian factory. Loewe assembles this model in Kronach from an LG Display open cell module of the LTY generation, individually calibrated at the end of the line. The 245 cm diagonal screen is exclusively wall-mounted thanks to an integrated fixed bracket, accompanied by a front soundbar and a 1 TB recording SSD.

The 97-inch diagonal places this television in a category where OLED remains rare. The panel, supplied by LG Display as an LTY open cell module, is integrated by Loewe with its own image processing and in-house SL8 chassis. Each unit undergoes individual calibration at the factory output, on D65 white and RGB primaries, in accordance with the requirements of the Dolby Vision IQ label with IQ PD variant.

Typical luminance is around 1100 cd/m² on a 10% HDR window, a lower value than that of the QD-OLED panels in the 55- and 65-inch diagonals in the range, which reach 2200 cd/m². This gap is due to module availability: current very large WOLED panels do not reach as high in peak brightness as mid-size QD-OLED generations. The Ultra HD 3840 x 2160 resolution is obviously present, with a 1 ms response time and a 120° viewing angle in both directions.

On the HDR side, the television supports HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ, complemented by the wide color gamut (WCG). Video processing includes UHD upscaling, automatic dimming, the system called AI PQ for content analysis, with adaptive contrast management and native 24p playback for cinema.

Aluminum chassis and wall installation only

The 97-inch format imposes its physical constraints: 218.2 cm wide, 133.8 cm high, and a weight of 66.5 kg without stand. Loewe has given up the tabletop stand on this diagonal, and the motorized stands (motor stellar) only cover 77- to 83-inch diagonals. Installation is therefore done exclusively on the wall, via a fixed mount integrated into the television, for a total depth of 7.1 cm against the wall. A universal wall mount slim 432 bracket remains available as an option.

The frame is made of brushed solid aluminum, diamond-cut beveled on all four sides, in a black aluminum or matte aluminum finish. The rear panel also uses aluminum in a full panel design. The 65- and 55-inch diagonals in the range, for their part, offer glass fiber reinforced concrete or volcanic lava on the back, options not available on the 97. Cable management is handled by integrated channels and covers in the light gray rear housing. The signature side flag, in aluminum with Loewe logo, adds about 1 cm to the total width.

Front soundbar and center input

Audio is handled by an integrated active soundbar, behind a glossy black lacquered metal grille or matte black acoustic fabric. Six front-firing transducers, mounted in bass-reflex enclosure with two-way filtering, deliver 2 x 75 W sinus power and 2 x 150 W music power. Amplification is Class D. Digital processing includes automatic volume, the AI AQ system for audio analysis, a configurable equalizer and the dynamic loudness function.

On the format side, Dolby Audio, Digital, Digital Plus and Atmos are supported, along with DTS HD and DTS X. A central RCA input (Cinch L/R) is provided at the rear: it allows the television to be used as the center channel of a home cinema installation, in addition to an external processor or AV amplifier. A dedicated subwoofer output (3.5 mm jack) allows the addition of a powered subwoofer.

HDMI 2.1 connectivity and gaming capabilities

Four HDMI inputs are split between two HDMI 2.0b ports and two HDMI 2.1 ports. On these last two, support is included for auto low latency mode (ALLM) and variable refresh rate (VRR) up to 120 Hz in Ultra HD. On the Stellar 83 and 77 vi in the same range, VRR goes up to 144 Hz, whereas the 97-inch format is limited to 120 Hz, a constraint tied to the specifications of the large-format OLED module. HDCP 2.2, HDMI-CEC, ARC and eARC are included.

The rest of the connectivity includes one USB-A 1.0 A port and one USB-A 2.0 A port, two USB-C 1.0 A ports, one IEC antenna input, two F satellite inputs, one CI+ V1.4 ECP slot, one TOSLINK optical output and one stereo output. Wireless covers Bluetooth, Miracast, AirPlay and Matter, with LAN and Wi-Fi for wired or wireless networking, plus wake on LAN and wake on Wi-Fi functions.

dr+ system with 1 TB SSD for recording

Loewe retains its in-house dr+ recording system, exclusive to the brand. A 1 TB SSD is integrated into the chassis, powered by a dual triple-tuner DVB-T2, DVB-C and DVB-S2 that allows program recording while another source is being played. Timeshift (delayed playback) is available, as well as multi-recording. The multi-view function is not offered on this range.

The EPG (electronic program guide) manages up to 10,000 channels. DiSEqC, Unicable and DVB radio functions are supported for satellite installations. On the video codec side, MPEG, MPEG2, MPEG4 (H.264), HEVC (H.265) and the more recent H.266 are supported. Zattoo and HD+ are included in the list of compatible services, more relevant on the German-speaking market.

Vidaa OS9 and connected ecosystem

The operating system is Loewe os9, based on Vidaa, with an interface translated into 34 languages and a dedicated app store. Preinstalled VOD services include Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, Deezer and MagentaTV, complemented by FAST channels grouped under the TV Channel+ service. Voice control relies on Alexa Skills and VIDAA Voice. A my Loewe companion app allows control from an iOS or Android smartphone.

For smart home integration, the television communicates over IP with Control4, Crestron and Basalte systems, in addition to Matter for consumer connectivity. AirPlay and Miracast protocols make streaming from a mobile device easier. A hotel mode and parental control complete the package.

Magic.light and lighting personalization

A Loewe particularity: the magic.light light ring integrated in the center of the soundbar. This ring lights up when switching on and off, and can serve as ambient lighting while viewing. The color can be set to any shade of the rainbow via the included Loewe remote alu remote control, with brightness and saturation adjustment.

The magic.motion function, which controls the motorized rotation of the television up to 45° on each side, is not available on the 97-inch format. The motorized stands (table stand motor stellar and floor stand motor stellar) only cover 77- to 83-inch diagonals. This function therefore remains limited to the intermediate diagonals in the range.
