Loewe Stellar 65 DR+
Awards
IF Product Design Award
The iF Design Awards, created in 1953, represent one of the world's leading design competitions. Each year, it attracts over 1,800 participants from 30 different countries. The jury, composed of globally renowned designers, not only examines and selects the chosen products but also adheres to stringent requirements to maintain a high-quality label.
Overview
Manufacturing its own OLED modules in a Bavarian factory rather than buying them off the shelf: this philosophy defines the Loewe Stellar range. The 65-inch version combines a factory-calibrated panel, a front-facing soundbar with ten transducers, and a back panel available in aluminium, concrete, or lava coating. Both a television and a decorative object, it makes a deliberate statement in the living room.
A factory-calibrated OLED panel
The open cell panel comes from LG Display, but the OLED module (reference LTY) is assembled and calibrated by Loewe at its factory in Kronach, Bavaria. This in-house finishing partly explains the level of control over picture quality. The 164 cm (65-inch) panel delivers an Ultra HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and reaches around 2200 cd/m² peak luminance on a 10% HDR window — a level that helps highlights and bright areas stand out without washing out the deep blacks characteristic of OLED.
Each unit undergoes individual factory calibration, covering the D65 white point and the red, green, and blue primaries. In terms of high dynamic range formats, the Stellar 65 DR+ supports HLG, HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, including Dolby Vision IQ mode (with IQ PD variant), which adjusts the image according to the ambient light in the room. Video processing includes UHD upscaling, AI PQ mode, adaptive contrast, automatic dimming, and 24p support for cinema content. The stated viewing angle reaches 120° both horizontally and vertically, and the response time drops to 1 ms.
Two finishes for the same television
Both versions of the Stellar DR+ share exactly the same technical foundation. The difference lies in the choice of materials, particularly the back panel. Both versions feature the same bevelled brushed aluminium frame — referred to by Loewe as “diamond cut” — though its colour varies depending on the finish.
The Concrete variant pairs a light brushed aluminium frame with a back panel made of real fibreglass-reinforced concrete, not a paint finish imitating its appearance: each unit displays a slightly different mineral texture. The Lava variant combines a matte black aluminium frame with a dark textured back panel, suited to rooms where the television should blend into a dark wall.
Regardless of the finish, connections are concealed and cables are routed through a management system integrated into the rear casing. On the side, a slim signature flag of approximately 1 cm bears the brand name and falls within the overall width of the screen.
The included rotating table stand pivots up to ±45° and conceals cable routing. Motorised rotation, called Loewe magic.motion, requires the optional motorised floor stand, which connects via a USB-A port. The Loewe magic.light ambient strip, concealed within the chassis, animates power-on and power-off sequences and serves as ambient lighting, available in warm white or other colours with adjustable intensity.
An integrated front-facing soundbar
Rather than a downward- or rear-firing auxiliary speaker, the Stellar 65 DR+ features a sealed front-firing soundbar housed beneath the panel. It groups ten transducers — six active and four passive — with two-way crossover filtering and passive radiators that extend bass response. The Class D digital amplification delivers 2 x 20 W RMS and up to 2 x 40 W peak musical power, totalling 80 W combined.
Decoding covers Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Digital, as well as DTS HD and DTS:X. Several processing modes accompany playback: AI AQ mode, an equaliser, dynamic loudness, and automatic volume levelling between sources. If the integrated soundbar falls short in the bass, a 3.5 mm mini-jack subwoofer output allows the addition of a subwoofer, with adjustable or fixed audio output level.
The DR+ system for recording and time-shifting
The DR+ designation refers to Loewe’s proprietary digital video recorder: an integrated SSD that records programmes and enables time-shift playback, allowing live television to be paused. The dual triple-tuner supports multi-recording, meaning one channel can be recorded while watching another. The technical specifications do not state the SSD capacity for this screen size, and multi-view — which would display two sources simultaneously on screen — is not available in this configuration. Recording to a USB drive remains possible as an optional feature.
Reception relies on DVB-T2, DVB-C, DVB-S2, and DVB-HD tuners, with DiSEqC, Unicable, and dual-channel support for satellite installations. The television decodes MPEG, MPEG2, MPEG4 (H.264), and HEVC (H.265 and H.266) codecs, supports HD+, Zattoo, HbbTV, teletext, and split screen, and its programme guide handles up to 10,000 channels.
Four HDMI inputs and gaming features
The connectivity includes four HDMI inputs, though they are not equivalent: two comply with the HDMI 2.0b standard, while the other two meet the HDMI 2.1 standard, supporting Ultra HD, ALLM, and VRR up to 144 Hz. A gamer with several current-generation consoles will therefore need to distribute their devices accordingly, keeping the most demanding sources on the two 2.1 ports. HDMI-CEC, ARC, and eARC are supported, as is HDCP 2.2.
The remaining connectivity is extensive: two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, a TOSLINK optical output, a CI+ V1.4 slot, Bluetooth, AirPlay, Miracast, and Matter, plus Wi-Fi and Ethernet with network wake-up. The audio output can be set to fixed or variable level and includes a subwoofer output. For managed installations, the Stellar 65 DR+ supports IP control and is compatible with Control4, Crestron, and Basalte protocols.
The os9 interface and online services
The television runs on os9, Loewe’s operating system based on Vidaa. The interface provides access to an app store and comes with the main video-on-demand services pre-installed: Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, Deezer, and MagentaTV. Free-to-air FAST channels are available through the TV Channel+ portal. Voice control relies on Alexa Skills and VIDAA Voice, and the my Loewe app serves as a complementary remote control from a smartphone.
Menus and help are available in 34 languages. A media player, DLNA client, and web browser are included, along with parental controls, a sleep timer, automatic shutdown, and hotel mode. Software updates can be performed via USB drive or over the internet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the included stand rotate motorized?
No. The table stand supplied with the television rotates manually, over a range of plus or minus 45°, and conceals the cable routing. Motorized rotation at the touch of a button, the Loewe magic.motion function, requires the motorized floor stand sold separately. The latter plugs into the television’s USB-A 2.0 A port to be controlled from the remote control.
Can the Stellar 65 DR+ be mounted on the wall?
Yes. The television supports a VESA 300 x 200 wall mount. With a profile 4.7 cm thick and a weight of approximately 20.5 kg without the stand, it is suitable for wall mounting, provided that a mount suited to this weight is used. A Kensington lock is included for security, and the supplied power cord measures 2.5 m.
How can I add bass to the TV sound?
A dedicated subwoofer output in 3.5 mm mini-jack format allows you to connect an active subwoofer without an external amplifier. The audio output level can be set to fixed or variable mode depending on the connected equipment. The integrated soundbar already handles bass through its passive radiators, but a separate subwoofer provides additional low-end presence in large rooms or for movie soundtracks.
Do you need an external decoder for satellite television?
No, satellite reception is integrated. The Stellar 65 DR+ includes DVB-S2 tuners and a dual triple tuner, and supports the DiSEqC, Unicable and dual-channel protocols required for multi-LNB or shared-dish installations. It also receives terrestrial TV (DVB-T2), cable (DVB-C) and digital radio. One IEC antenna input and two F-type satellite inputs are provided on the rear.
What is its energy efficiency class?
The television is classified in category E, with an index of 0.697 in SDR and 0.749 in HDR. The stated consumption reaches 79 kWh per 1000 hours in SDR and 85 kWh per 1000 hours in HDR. In standby, it drops to 0.4 W, and to 0.0 W once switched off thanks to the power switch. Its EPREL registration number is 2180883, which can be consulted to verify the official energy label.
Does it integrate with a home automation system?
Yes. The Stellar 65 DR+ can be controlled via IP and recognizes Control4, Crestron, and Basalte systems, making it compatible with an integrated installation managed by an installer. On the consumer side, support for Matter, AirPlay, and Bluetooth makes it easy to connect with other devices in the home. Wake-on-LAN, over both Ethernet and Wi-Fi, allows it to be turned on remotely.
What is the difference between multi-recording and multi-view?
Multi-recording means recording one channel while watching another, made possible by the dual triple tuner combined with the system’s dr+ SSD. Multi-view, on the other hand, displays two sources on the screen at the same time, for example two channels side by side. This second function is not available on this Stellar 65 DR+ configuration, whereas multi-recording and time-shifted playback are.
