High-frequency USB signals travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor: AudioQuest leverages this physical phenomenon to deliver transmission quality close to that of a cable made entirely of silver, without incurring the cost. This semi-solid concentric approach also limits strand interaction, a source of dynamic distortion and jitter in conventional multi-strand cables.

The Forest carries the standard 5V USB power but does not support the Power Delivery protocol. It can provide basic power to a USB-powered portable DAC, but it is not designed as a fast-charging cable for smartphones or tablets.
