Overview
At the general request of the Audio Valve fan community, Audio Valve proudly presents a successor model within the Assistent series, the Assistent 50.
Here, 10 years of production experience are combined and provide the basis for a completely new technological and optical design.
We have to thank you, dear fan community, it is thanks to your loyalty to the product that we at Audio Valve have spared no expense or trouble to develop a new unit based on the trusted foundations, which allows your demand for “more performance” and comfort”.
Numerous reports from around the world have documented time and again the excellent sound performance of the sophisticated construction of the previous Assistant series.
Just as before, QQE-type power tubes are used today, but now 8 tubes - four per channel, developing 2 x 50 watts, reflecting a sonic transparency that was and still is proverbial for this series. True to the slogan: “Once Assistent - always Assistent.”
In addition to all the technological innovations, the cabinet design in particular offers several surprises. No controls on the front panel, a 3D laser writing and illuminated on the transparent front of the amplifier barely show what wave of innovation forms the basis of the product and will bring you the expected joy for many years to come. With these features, AudioValve is undoubtedly setting a new trend.
One of the original features of Audio Valve products lies in the use of valves in such a way that they operate as close as possible to their ideal reference values according to their type. For example, we recall the PCL 805 pentode-triode output and especially the QQE 3/12 common cathode small beam tetrode. This valve with a noval base (nine pins) was previously manufactured by Valvo, Philips and Telefunken etc. (the latter was used in our test amplifier) It has a plate power dissipation of 7.5 W and can be used with plate voltages ranging from 200 to 300 V. It is ideal in class A and AB amplifiers. This valve, according to Helmut Becker, is ideally suited to be integrated into a circuit that includes another very innovative concept, an automatically operating grid bias control,
The amplification circuit uses 12 valves, but the push-pull output stages are coupled to the ABR circuit for each power tube. This exclusive Audio Valve function allows a comparison of the reference voltage value with that generated by the quiescent current and which appears across a low value resistor in the cathode return circuit. A small operating amplifier monitors, as a comparator, the divergence and provides the compensation voltage to the valve grid. Each valve, young or old, reaching or not reaching reference values is thus compensated in its grid bias to operate at a value that corresponds to its optimal quiescent current. A red LED, at the foot of each value lights up preventing the use of inadequate or defective valves. For each channel, the input stage and the driver stage are served by an almost known noval valve
