New coreless direct drive motor

The technologies accumulated during the development of the SL-1200 series and the high-end SL-1000R model have been leveraged in the design of the motor drive unit, one of the key elements of the turntable. The unit exclusively features the coreless direct drive motor with a single rotor adopted from the SL-1200GR to deliver perfect rotational stability and high precision in reading the signals from the record. The motor optimally controls the inertial mass of the double-layer platter that holds the vinyl record thanks to the sound-insulating rubber coating applied over the entire surface, which eliminates unwanted resonances. The die-cast aluminum chassis eliminates any rotational irregularity (cogging).

Precise reading of the record groove signals

The tonearm takes the form of a universal static balance S-shaped tonearm, another Technics signature. The SL-100C adopts the same gimbal suspension and high-precision bearing housing as the SL-1200 series models for perfect sensitivity to initial motion. This rigid die-cast aluminum chassis is integrated with a special material consisting of ABS plastic mixed with glass fiber in a double-layer design. The insulating device is composed of a spring and rubber offering optimal vibration damping characteristics.

Integration of an audiophile-quality cartridge

The SL-100C comes with an Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge already integrated, allowing you to listen to your favorite tracks in high fidelity without complicated setup beforehand. The height of the tonearm can be easily adjusted over a range of 6 mm, allowing the use of various different phono cartridges.

The automatic lift-up function minimizes record wear

Once the tonearm reaches the end of the record, the automatic lift-up function raises the cartridge without you needing to intervene. This function prevents unnecessary wear on your vinyl records or the stylus tip. The integration of the automatic lift-up function on the base part of the tonearm avoids any impact on it. This simple design allows it to operate without using motor power and prevents electrical or vibrational impacts without restricting tonearm movements. This design has been adopted for the automatic lift-up to meet the demand of many users and to prioritize sound quality. The manipulations required for playing records have been kept to a strict minimum for simple and user-friendly operation.
