The Home Subwoofer completes the Denon Home ecosystem by bringing deep, controlled bass to your connected speakers and soundbars. With its 20 cm woofer, built-in WiFi connectivity, and precise settings via the HEOS app, this subwoofer transforms both music and movie listening.
With dimensions of 330 × 373 × 330 mm and a weight of 12.5 kg, the Home Subwoofer can be easily positioned in your room. It incorporates a long-throw 20 cm woofer in a bass-reflex enclosure with a downward-facing port. This downward-firing configuration disperses bass evenly by using the floor as a reflective surface.
The matte black finish matches the Denon Home range. The front panel is limited to a single LED indicator, while the rear groups together the volume controls, mute button, RJ45 Ethernet port, 3.5 mm mini-jack auxiliary input, USB-A port, and power socket. The USB port lets you play music files that can then be streamed across the entire HEOS system present on your home network.
The Home Subwoofer communicates via dual-band WiFi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) using the 802.11 b/g/n and 802.11 a/n/ac standards. This wireless connection eliminates audio cables between the subwoofer and the other speakers, although a mains power connection is still required. The wired Ethernet connection offers an alternative for environments where WiFi may be less stable.
Compatibility is strictly limited to Denon Home 150, 250, and 350 speakers, the Denon Home Sound Bar 550 soundbar, and the DHT-S716H. It is not compatible with Denon AV receivers (AVR-X series) or with standard DHT soundbars. Setup takes just a few minutes via the HEOS app: plug in the subwoofer, connect it to the WiFi network, then pair it with your speaker or soundbar.
The HEOS app provides access to three essential parameters. The volume control adjusts the bass contribution, the low-pass filter sets the crossover frequency, and the phase control (0° or 180°) corrects acoustic offsets depending on the room layout. Reversing the phase can increase the perceived bass level thanks to better acoustic coherence.
For stereo music, the subwoofer pairs with two Denon Home speakers to form a 2.1 system. For home cinema, when combined with the Denon Home Sound Bar 550, it creates a 3.1 configuration. By adding two rear surround speakers, you obtain a complete 5.1 system that is entirely wireless. HEOS multiroom capability also lets you use the subwoofer as part of a distributed audio system across multiple rooms.
No, this subwoofer works exclusively with the Denon Home range (Home 150/250/350 speakers, Home Sound Bar 550 and DHT-S716H soundbars). It is not compatible with AVR-X series receivers or with products from other manufacturers. This limitation stems from its design, which is dedicated to the HEOS Built-in ecosystem.
The Home Subwoofer replaces the DSW-1H with a larger woofer (20 cm versus two 14 cm drivers for the DSW-1H), a more accessible price point, and a design in line with the Denon Home range. The new model uses a single downward-firing driver, whereas the DSW-1H used two front-firing drivers.
Both options work. Dual-band WiFi offers flexibility in placement, while the wired Ethernet connection guarantees maximum stability, which is particularly useful if the subwoofer is far from the WiFi access point or in an environment where the wireless network is congested.
