Its ceramic bearing system, developed by the German manufacturer GRW, is the central element of its mechanism and ensures smooth movement with minimal friction.

A hybrid construction where each material plays its part

The arm tube, fully machined from titanium, features a rarity: it is divided into six sections of varying diameters, an approach that effectively manages resonances while maintaining optimal rigidity. This structure starts with a diameter of 12 mm, with a wall thickness of 0.6 mm, and gradually evolves over its full length of 242 mm.

Black anodized aluminum makes up the pivot and the headshell. This choice provides a light yet stable structure, with a total weight of 195 grams without the counterweight. The black anodized finish visually contrasts with the natural titanium of the tube, creating a signature look that stands out instantly.

The main counterweight, machined from stainless steel, offers sufficient density to properly balance the arm with most cartridges. Additional counterweights are available for particularly heavy cartridges, ensuring total system adaptability.

GRW bearings: where German precision meets Italian design

At the heart of the B-7 Ceramic are four ceramic micro ball bearings, an exclusive design developed by GRW specifically for Gold Note. This German company, based near Würzburg, has been manufacturing precision bearings for over 50 years and specializes in high-performance miniature bearings for demanding applications such as aerospace and medical instrumentation.

The ceramic balls use silicon nitride (Si3N4), a material 60% lighter than steel with exceptional hardness. This combination offers several tangible benefits: five times the wear resistance of traditional steel bearings, total corrosion resistance, and above all, minimized friction. Each bearing is individually tested, then hermetically sealed in a controlled environment to preserve its mechanical characteristics.

The bearing layout follows a precise architecture: two micro-bearings manage horizontal movement, directly integrated into the precision-ground main pivot. Vertical movements are controlled by ultra-low-friction ceramic ball bearings, pivoted via manually adjustable stainless steel bolts. This configuration delivers completely silent tracking, without the parasitic noises often associated with traditional pivots.

The effective length of 242 mm with a 19 mm overhang places the B-7 Ceramic in the standard 9-inch arm category, making it easy to install on most high-quality turntables. The 24-degree offset angle has been calculated to minimize tracking error across the entire record surface.

The dynamic effective mass of 10 grams is a judicious compromise. This value allows the arm to work properly with a wide range of cartridges, from medium-compliance models to low-compliance MC cartridges. Adjustment systems: between ease of use and surgical precision

VTA (vertical tracking angle) adjustment is handled via an adjustable collar located at the base of the arm. While it doesn’t allow on-the-fly adjustment, it provides perfect stability once set. The system holds the chosen position firmly with no risk of drift over time.

Azimuth is adjusted directly at the headshell via two 2 mm hex micro-screws. This approach enables fine adjustment of the stylus’s perpendicularity to the groove, a crucial parameter for channel balance and minimizing distortion.

The anti-skating system uses the proven thread-and-weight method, inherited from the legendary SME arms of the 1950s. Five predefined positions allow you to tailor the anti-skating force to the tracking force used. This purely mechanical solution avoids introducing springs or magnets that could influence the arm’s dynamic behavior.

The hydraulic cueing lever ensures a controlled and repeatable descent of the arm onto the record, protecting both the stylus and grooves during handling.

Internal wiring and connectivity: uncompromised signal transmission

The internal wiring uses shielded AWG36 Hyper Litz oxygen-free copper (OFC) with 99.9999% purity. This Litz construction, where each strand is individually insulated, minimizes skin effect at audio frequencies and reduces cable capacitance. The shielding effectively protects against electromagnetic interference without adding significant mass to the system.

A custom 1.5-meter external cable is supplied, featuring a 4-pin DIN connector on the arm side and RCA plugs on the preamplifier side. The build quality of this cable meets the standards set for the internal wiring, ensuring consistent signal transmission from the cartridge to the electronics.
