The black Santorin 17 M2 from Cabasse is a compact subwoofer designed to add depth and impact to home theater and hi-fi audio systems. With its elegant design and impressive acoustic performance, this subwoofer promises to significantly enrich the listening experience in modern living spaces.
The Santorin 17 M2 stands out with its compact cubic format measuring 30 cm per side, allowing it to blend discreetly into most interiors. Despite its modest size, this subwoofer houses a 17 cm driver capable of delivering deep, punchy bass.
The enclosure is equipped with a built-in amplifier with a nominal power of 100 W RMS, peaking at 200 W. This combination enables the Santorin 17 M2 to reproduce a frequency range from 32 Hz to 300 Hz, covering the core of the low-frequency spectrum.
Cabasse has chosen a bass-reflex loading for this subwoofer, thereby optimizing efficiency and low-frequency response. The 17 cm driver uses a cellulose fiber cone, a material renowned for its acoustic qualities, offering a well-balanced mix of rigidity and lightness. This design delivers bass that is both precise and dynamic, capable of conveying the subtleties of a double bass as well as the impact of an explosion in an action movie.
In a home theater setup, the Santorin 17 M2 truly excels. It can faithfully reproduce the LFE (Low Frequency Effects) channel of multichannel soundtracks, adding depth and impact to special effects. Its ability to extend up to 300 Hz makes it particularly suitable for pairing with compact satellite speakers, such as those in Cabasse’s Alcyone system, ensuring a seamless transition between the subwoofer and satellites.
Although particularly well-suited to home theater, the Santorin 17 M2 is also highly capable for music listening. Its extended frequency response and precision allow it to faithfully reproduce low-frequency instruments such as double bass, kick drums, or synthesizers. It adds welcome foundation and depth to many musical genres, from jazz to electronic to rock.
The Santorin 17 M2 is an evolution of the original Santorin 17. It retains the same compact dimensions but benefits from improvements in amplification and signal processing, delivering optimized acoustic performance.
Yes. Thanks to its compact dimensions and appropriate power, the Santorin 17 M2 is perfectly suited to small to medium-sized rooms, typically between 15 and 30 m².
Absolutely. Using multiple subwoofers can improve bass distribution in the room and increase overall sound pressure. It is recommended to place them symmetrically for the best results.
As with most speakers, a break-in period can be beneficial. Around fifty hours of use will allow the driver to reach optimal performance, with more precise and defined bass.
The ideal placement depends on your room’s acoustics. Generally, positioning in a corner or along a wall will reinforce the bass. Try different positions and use the phase and level settings to achieve the best possible integration with your main speakers.

Product perfectly matching the description given on the website
A notable improvement to my HI-FI system to enhance the bass and take the load off the 2-way Cabasse speakers that make it up, all at a reasonable price

Satisfied with the product, which does a great job.
Connected to the high-level inputs because of an old amp (Scott 440 A), it performs very well and fills in what I was missing with the floorstanding speakers (monitor audio bronze 5), even with the loud control.
Haven’t tested it on classical music, but I’m really enjoying dark side off the moon (test album), which has gained the fullness it deserves.
It may perhaps be missing other adjustments (phase and filter frequency).
But for my setup, no need for more.
I recommend it.
