After returning a Naim Atom Headphone that I wasn’t satisfied with, I went for the HP-10 instead, and that one is just flawless ;-)

The Gold Note HP-10 Deluxe headphone preamplifier is the result of meticulous design aimed at delivering impeccable sound quality. Its fully symmetrical Class A Dual-Mono architecture ensures optimal signal purity. The fully analog audio path, crafted with high-quality discrete components, preserves sound integrity at every stage of amplification.
With a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±0.3 dB) and a total harmonic distortion rate of just 0.015% at 1 kHz, the HP-10 Deluxe promises exceptional sound fidelity. The signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB ensures a perfectly silent background, allowing you to fully enjoy every musical nuance.
The HP-10 Deluxe spares no effort when it comes to connectivity options. On the analog input side, it features a pair of unbalanced RCA connectors and a pair of balanced XLR connectors, making it easy to connect high-end sources.
The Deluxe version stands out with its advanced digital inputs. It includes a Bluetooth 5.1 receiver compatible with the aptX HD codec, offering high-quality wireless transmission. The USB-C input is the true highlight of this version, supporting PCM streams up to 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512. The premium AKM AK4493 digital-to-analog converter ensures optimal conversion of digital signals.
For headphone outputs, the HP-10 Deluxe offers four options to accommodate all types of headphones: 3.5 mm mini-jack, 6.35 mm jack, 4.4 mm balanced jack, and 4-pin XLR. RCA and XLR line outputs also allow the device to be used as a preamplifier in a hi-fi system.
The HP-10 Deluxe stands out with its numerous sound customization options. The Crossfeed function offers four modes for blending the left and right channels, recreating a natural three-dimensional soundstage, as if listening to speakers.
The Harman curve equalization optimizes the frequency response specifically for headphone listening. Meanwhile, the Superflat mode linearizes the treble response for a more neutral reproduction. The variable damping factor allows precise adaptation of the amplifier to the characteristics of each headphone.
Other settings, such as variable gain, 0/180° phase inversion, or left/right balance, provide total flexibility to fine-tune the sound to your preferences.
Despite its advanced features, the HP-10 Deluxe remains easy to use on a daily basis. Its large 3.5-inch color touchscreen clearly displays all essential information and allows quick access to various settings.
The front rotary knob, utilizing Gold Note’s SKC (Single Knob Control) technology, offers precise and intuitive control. An infrared remote control is also included for operating the device from a distance.
True to Gold Note’s reputation, the HP-10 Deluxe boasts an elegant and minimalist design. Its precision-machined solid aluminum chassis ensures excellent rigidity while minimizing resonances and electromagnetic interference.
Available in a brushed black finish, the device seamlessly integrates into any high-end audiophile environment. Its compact dimensions (200 x 80 x 260 mm) make it easy to place.
The HP-10 Deluxe easily adapts to different configurations. Its bypass function allows it to integrate into an existing hi-fi system without altering the wiring, enabling easy switching between headphone and speaker listening.
Trigger IN/OUT connections allow synchronization of the amplifier’s power-on with the rest of the system. For the most demanding users, the HP-10 Deluxe is compatible with Gold Note’s external PSU-10 EVO power supply, promising even higher performance.
What sets the HP-10 Deluxe apart from other versions?
The HP-10 Deluxe stands out with its advanced digital inputs, including high-resolution USB-C and the premium AKM AK4493 DAC. The standard and BT versions offer fewer digital connectivity options.
Is the HP-10 Deluxe suitable for all types of headphones?
Yes, thanks to its multiple outputs and variable gain and damping settings, the HP-10 Deluxe is compatible with virtually all headphones on the market, from low-impedance models to the most demanding ones.
Can the HP-10 Deluxe be used as a preamplifier for speakers?
Absolutely, its RCA and XLR line outputs allow it to connect to a power amplifier to drive speakers. The bypass function facilitates integration into an existing system.
What are the benefits of the Crossfeed mode?
Crossfeed subtly blends the left and right channels to recreate a more natural soundstage, similar to listening on speakers. This can reduce listening fatigue during long headphone sessions.
Does the device require a break-in period?
As with any high-end audiophile equipment, a break-in period may allow the components to reach their optimal performance. However, the HP-10 Deluxe delivers excellent performance right out of the box.

- THE MIRACLE WORKER: A NEW BENCHMARK -
Coupled with its dedicated power supply, this amp/preamp DAC is absolutely unique on the market in terms of adjustment flexibility and performance.
Put simply: it transforms every pair of headphones or speakers you hook up to it.
There will undoubtedly be a before and after once you’ve used this product...
Now, it’s not perfect:
the signal‑to‑noise ratio is average, volume adjustment is tedious, menu navigation via the remote is not very ergonomic or intuitive (it’s easier using the touchscreen).
But these flaws are quickly forgotten as soon as you start tweaking the (entirely analog) settings: the DAMPING FACTOR propels the listening experience to a whole new level.
The HARMAN curves and crossfeed (as needed) add a touch of subtle flair, clearly audible yet wonderfully musical.
Cranking the gain up to HIGH (if needed) brings extra speed and energy.
The DAC section is quite simply the most “analog‑sounding” I’ve ever heard (outside of tube DACs).
No digital artifacts to report, no sibilance or harshness: it’s remarkable.
With or without the DAC, the sound is full, lively, energetic, and addictive.
Note that the output level is very high if needed: you’ll struggle to go past volume 40 (out of 100).
Depending on the settings, the particularly successful bass range may seem slightly forward.
If your system is already heavy in that region, some fine‑tuning will be in order. But what drive, what energy!!
And on top of that, it’s versatile: RCA/XLR inputs and outputs, DAC, Bluetooth, 4 (!) balanced or unbalanced headphone outputs... It can find a place in any setup.
So before changing your headphones, amp, or speakers, listening to this combo is highly recommended.
For my part, it’s the most radical change I’ve ever experienced with any piece of gear in my system.

Excellent headphone amp offering so many different combinations that I no longer even use my amplifiers anymore—but in the end, isn’t that the whole point?
Paired with a Meze headphone, it makes for a coherent and explosive setup; what a joy to listen to female voices like Véronique Sanson, Joan Baez... and that’s only the beginning.
It makes you wonder if it couldn’t be used as a preamplifier; I’m thinking I might try it with my “old” Quad 405.
