This tuning results in a wide soundstage where each element finds its place in space, whether it’s enemy footsteps, spells cast in the distance, or teammates’ callouts.

The Beyerdynamic app lets you refine the sound according to personal preferences or content type. Presets are available, but you can also create custom EQ profiles to tailor the sound to each situation: competitive gaming that demands precision, more cinematic story-driven sessions, or simple music listening.

Bluetooth 6.0 and low-latency USB-C dongle

Wireless connectivity is based on the latest Bluetooth 6.0 standard, providing virtually instant audio transmission. For sessions where every millisecond counts, the included USB-C dongle ensures an even faster connection via a proprietary 2.4 GHz protocol. This receiver can be stored in a dedicated compartment under the right earcup, preventing it from getting lost between uses.

The headset connects to PC, PlayStation consoles, Nintendo Switch, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices. The Multipoint function allows you to switch between the dongle and a smartphone paired via Bluetooth: an incoming call automatically interrupts your gaming session, and the sound returns to the game once the call is over.

60-hour battery life and replaceable battery

Battery life reaches 60 hours of continuous use, which can mean several weeks without recharging depending on how intensely you use it. But the real innovation lies under the cover of the left earcup: the battery can be replaced simply by lifting this magnetically attached panel. This design significantly extends the headset’s lifespan, since you can swap out the battery once its capacity declines after years of heavy use.

Active noise cancellation and isolation

The closed-back over-ear design naturally isolates you from external noise, but the MMX 230 Wireless goes further with an active noise cancellation (ANC) system. It reduces persistent ambient sounds such as PC fans, air conditioning hum, or distant conversations. The intensity of this feature can be adjusted via the app to find the right balance between immersion and awareness of your surroundings.

MEMS microphone with ambient noise reduction

The detachable microphone uses a 9.9 mm MEMS capsule coupled with an environmental noise reduction (ENC) algorithm. This technology filters out unwanted sounds on the outgoing signal: mechanical keyboards, fans, various background noises. Teammates hear a clear and intelligible voice even in a noisy environment. The flip-to-mute function instantly cuts the mic when the boom arm is raised upwards.

The sidetone function, adjustable in the app, feeds your own voice back into the headphones. It is only activated during voice communications, preventing a constant echo effect.

Lightweight construction and long-term comfort

Weighing in at 260 grams, the headset remains light despite the integration of the battery, ANC electronics, and dongle storage system. The headband features memory foam padding under a faux leather surface, distributing pressure over the head with no uncomfortable pressure points. Ten height adjustment steps and dual-axis earcup articulation allow the fit to be adapted to all head shapes.

The velour earpads cover memory foam that conforms to the contours of the ears. This material breathes better than faux leather, limiting heat build-up during long sessions. These parts are removable and replaceable, a key advantage for maintaining hygiene and comfort over time. They can be removed in one piece thanks to a magnetic mounting system, which also provides access to the battery compartment.

Integrated controls and dedicated app

Volume is controlled via +/- buttons on the earcup, complemented by a clickable multifunction wheel. A dedicated button lets you switch between ANC modes or turn the feature off entirely. Power-on is handled by the power button, which also lets you select the connection mode (Bluetooth or dongle) at startup.

The Beyerdynamic app centralizes all advanced settings: sidetone level, ANC intensity, custom EQ, and management of voice prompts. Once configured, these preferences are stored directly in the headset and remain active even without a connection to the app.
