Overview
After building its reputation on affordable network streamers and amplifiers, WiiM is moving up a gear with its range of wireless speakers. The Sound Lite fully reprises the acoustic section and features of the WiiM Sound, but opts for a more streamlined approach by removing the touch screen and remote control. The result: a compact speaker that concentrates all the Californian brand’s expertise in a discreet format, designed to blend easily into any room.
Three‑driver acoustic architecture
The Sound Lite features a two-way system built around a 10 cm long-throw woofer and a pair of 25 mm silk-dome tweeters. The woofer uses a paper cone, a material choice that favors natural, responsive reproduction in the low-mid register. The two tweeters, positioned on either side, ensure wide treble dispersion and help create an expansive soundstage, even when the speaker is used on its own.
The built-in amplification delivers 100 W peak power, split between 50 W for the bass and 2 × 25 W for the tweeters. The crossover frequency is set at 2.4 kHz. These specifications allow the speaker to comfortably fill a medium-sized room without having to crank the volume to the point of distortion.
High-resolution playback and automatic calibration
The Sound Lite supports audio streams up to 24-bit / 192 kHz with gapless playback between tracks. This capability allows it to faithfully reproduce the high-definition catalogs of services like Qobuz or TIDAL.
The AI RoomFit function analyzes the room’s acoustics using the microphones of both the speaker and the smartphone. The algorithm then automatically adjusts the frequency response to compensate for colorations related to placement and environment. For users who prefer manual fine-tuning, the WiiM Home app offers a 10-band graphic EQ as well as a parametric EQ, along with more than 20 presets.
Comprehensive network and wireless connectivity
The speaker includes a Wi‑Fi 6E controller compatible with the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, as well as a 100 Mbit/s Ethernet port for setups where wired stability is preferred. Bluetooth 5.3 supports SBC, AAC and LC3 codecs, the latter offering better transmission efficiency than its predecessors.
A 3.5 mm auxiliary input lets you connect an analog source such as a turntable with a built-in phono preamp or a portable CD player. This input can also redistribute the signal to all WiiM speakers in the home over the network.
Open and versatile streaming services
WiiM has chosen an open platform, with no lock-in to a proprietary ecosystem. The Sound Lite natively supports Chromecast Audio, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect. It’s also compatible with DLNA, Roon Ready and Logitech Media Server, enabling playback of music libraries stored on a NAS or local server.
The speaker integrates into Google Cast and Alexa multiroom systems, allowing it to be grouped with compatible speakers from other brands. It responds to voice commands via Alexa or Google Assistant when a compatible device is present in the environment. The lack of AirPlay support, however, limits its appeal for households fully equipped with Apple products.
Stereo, multiroom and home cinema configurations
Two Sound Lites can be paired to form a left/right stereo set, with a much wider soundstage than in mono configuration. Pairing is done directly from the WiiM Home app in just a few steps.
The speaker can also join a multiroom system with other products in the range: Mini, Pro or Ultra streamers, Amp, Amp Pro or Amp Ultra amplifiers, and the Sub Pro subwoofer. Synchronization between devices remains tight, with no audible delay from one room to another.
In a home cinema setup, the Sound Lite can play any role within a 5.1 system, including the center channel. This flexibility sets it apart from many wireless speakers that are limited to surround channels.
Clean design, touch controls
With no screen or remote control, the Sound Lite adopts a cylindrical silhouette wrapped in woven fabric, with a tempered-glass top plate hosting touch controls: play/pause, volume, previous and next track. The black or white finishes blend discreetly into a living room, bedroom or office.
The footprint remains compact, with dimensions of 146 × 146 × 194 mm and a weight of 2.5 kg. The speaker requires permanent mains power and has no built-in battery. The WiiM Voice Remote 2 Lite, compatible but not included, adds physical control with a push-to-talk function for voice commands.
WiiM Home app, unified control center
All speaker management is handled via the WiiM Home app, available on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Apple TV and Google TV. The interface provides access to streaming services, multiroom group management, Smart Preset configuration and EQ adjustment.
Smart Presets let you assign up to six shortcuts to radio stations, playlists or favorite sources, accessible directly from the app or the remote control. Music alarm and scheduled routine functions round out the package.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you use a Sound and a Sound Lite together as a stereo pair?
Yes, both models share the same acoustic section and can be paired in a left/right configuration. The Sound adds a display to show album artwork, while the Lite remains more discreet.
Does the speaker work without an internet connection?
The Sound Lite can play local sources via DLNA, LMS or the auxiliary input without internet access. However, online streaming services and some app features require an active connection.
What is the difference between AI RoomFit and manual EQ?
AI RoomFit automatically measures the room acoustics and corrects the frequency response. The manual equalizer then lets you fine-tune the result to your listening preferences, with separate settings for Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and auxiliary connections.
Can the Sound Lite be used as a center channel for a TV?
Yes, when paired with a compatible WiiM amplifier (Amp, Amp Pro or Amp Ultra), it can act as the center channel in a Dolby 5.1 setup. This is a rare capability for a wireless speaker of this form factor.
Which Bluetooth codecs are supported?
The speaker supports SBC, AAC and LC3. The LC3 codec, part of the LE Audio standard, offers better quality at equivalent bitrates compared to older codecs.
Is the speaker compatible with voice assistants without an external device?
The Sound Lite has no always-on microphone for voice wake-up. It responds to Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands only when a compatible device (smart speaker, smartphone) relays the request.
Can a subwoofer be connected to the Sound Lite?
The Sound Lite can be paired with the WiiM Sub Pro to reinforce low frequencies. Crossover and level management are handled from the WiiM Home app.
Can the auxiliary input feed other speakers on the network?
Yes, a source connected to the 3.5 mm input can be redistributed to all WiiM devices in the home, turning the speaker into an input point for a multiroom system.
