Once connected, volume, phase, and LFE channel level adjustments are made from the on-screen display (OSD) menu on the TV using the soundbar’s or amplifier’s remote. Canton has chosen to centralize the controls rather than multiplying knobs on the subwoofer itself.

In wired mode, the Smart Sub 8 offers two operating behaviors: always-on or automatic standby when the signal disappears. Standby power consumption is rated at under 0.5 W. A selector on the rear panel lets you switch between wireless and wired modes.
