Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Motion ALR LT 100 suitable for an ultra-short-throw projector?

No. The screen is designed for long-throw projectors, placed at a distance from the screen. An ALR screen for ultra-short throw has a different surface microstructure, optimized for a beam arriving from below, just a few centimeters from the wall. Using an ultra-short-throw projector on this screen would severely degrade the image. For this type of source, a specifically UST-type ALR screen is required.

Can the screen be controlled from a home automation system?

The specifications describe three controls: the integrated infrared remote control, the supplied remote infrared sensor, and the manual wall switch. No automatic trigger interface such as a 12 V input or serial connection is documented. Home automation control remains possible through an infrared emitter controlled by the home automation hub, which reproduces the remote control commands. This is integration by learning infrared codes, rather than a dedicated connection.

What projection distance should be planned for?

It depends on the projector’s throw ratio, not the screen. A long-throw device must be set back to cover an image width of 221 cm: the exact distance is calculated from the throw ratio specified by the projector manufacturer. In practice, this type of model is placed at the back of the room or mounted on the ceiling, several meters from the screen.

Why is there such a wide black border at the top of the image?

The 300 mm upper border is a fixed black band located between the housing and the top of the image. It acts as a drop: by moving the image away from the housing, it allows the casing to be installed near the ceiling while placing the image at eye level from the sofa. The side borders, meanwhile, are limited to 20 mm and simply frame the usable surface.

Is the screen compatible with 4K content?

Yes. The ALR LT surface reproduces UHD 4K content. The resolution actually displayed depends on the projector: the screen does not limit image sharpness. Its optical structure is mainly intended for ambient light management and contrast retention, two points that remain valid whatever the source definition.

How much brightness does the projector need?

The gain of 1.8 works in favor of projectors that are not the brightest: the screen efficiently returns the received light, which compensates for part of a brightness shortfall. In a very bright room or facing large bay windows, a more powerful projector still has the advantage in perceived contrast. There is no single lumen threshold; the result depends on the actual level of ambient light in the room.
