Designed to meet the expectations of hi-fi enthusiasts, the MM7025 represents the culmination of decades of Marantz expertise in audio amplification. This stereo power amplifier delivers 140 watts per channel at 8 ohms, incorporating technologies inherited from the Reference range while maintaining a compact format and accessible price point.
The MM7025 features a brushed aluminum front panel enhanced by a reinforced glass resin fascia. At the center, the blue backlit porthole—a visual signature borrowed from the Reference series—displays the operating status. This aesthetic approach traces its roots back to the original creations of Saul Marantz, the brand’s founder in 1953.
With its compact dimensions (440 × 352 × 126 mm) and weight of 10.3 kg, the amplifier easily fits into any setup. The oversized EI transformer, selected after extensive listening tests, occupies a central place in the internal architecture. Heat dissipation is managed via a quiet ventilated tunnel that maintains optimal temperatures even during intensive use.
The MM7025 uses a current feedback architecture, offering a constant bandwidth regardless of gain and fast transient response. The bandwidth extends from 8 Hz to 100 kHz.
The HDAM-SA3 (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) circuits are another cornerstone of the design. These discrete modules replace standard integrated circuits with carefully selected components, reducing noise and improving dynamics. The power supply is based on an EI transformer feeding capacitors totaling 30,000 µF, ensuring an energy reserve for musical transients. The LAPT output transistors, identical to those in the SM-11S1 Reference, provide stable drive for demanding loads.
Each channel features independently switchable RCA (1.2 V) and XLR (2.4 V) inputs. The gold-plated binding posts accept all types of connections. For system integration, the MM7025 offers trigger inputs/outputs, Marantz bus, and infrared input. The detachable power cord and optional rack kit make installation easy.
With 140W/8Ω and 170W/6Ω, a damping factor of 100, distortion of 0.03%, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 105 dB, the MM7025 delivers performance capable of comfortably powering most loudspeakers.
This isn't a flagship. It's not trying to be. [...] The MM7025 doesn't have a "sound" in the way some amps do. It's neutral with a very slight Marantz smoothness to it — that house character the brand has carried since the early solid-state days. [...] It's not a powerhouse. 140W is enough for most setups, but if you're running inefficient or low-impedance speakers at high volume, you'll want more headroom. It also has a cooling fan — quiet, but in a dead-silent room you'll know it's there.
The MM7025 is a dedicated power amplifier, with no preamplification or volume/tone controls. It requires a separate preamplifier or an integrated amplifier with pre-out outputs to operate. This separate architecture provides better isolation between circuits, a more generous power supply, and therefore superior performance in terms of dynamics and speaker control.
Use the pre-out outputs of your integrated amplifier to connect to the RCA or XLR inputs of the MM7025. Then connect your main speakers directly to the MM7025. Volume control is still managed from your integrated amplifier, which acts as the preamplifier. The small potentiometers on the back of the MM7025 are only for adjusting the input level; set them once and leave them in place.
With 140 watts at 8 ohms and 170 watts at 6 ohms, combined with a robust power supply and current feedback circuits, the MM7025 comfortably drives the majority of speakers on the market. Its damping factor of 100 and instant current capability allow it to maintain control even with complex loads. For particularly demanding speakers (impedance dropping below 4 ohms), the five-channel MM7055 model could be used in a bi-amped configuration.

Excellent power amplifier. I connected it to a Marantz PM8006 and a pair of Focal 926 bookshelf speakers. It's magnificent. The amplifier is now only used for a pair of Focal 906 speakers. I've rediscovered my CDs.
