The white AT-LP3XBT from Audio‑Technica evolves its predecessor’s formula by adding Bluetooth connectivity with aptX codecs. This fully automatic turntable combines simplified operation with solid construction, featuring a die-cast aluminum platter and a built-in phono preamplifier. It targets users seeking versatility between traditional wired listening and wireless streaming.
The AT-LP3XBT’s chassis sits on a damped base to limit unwanted vibrations. Its die-cast aluminum platter, topped with a felt mat, helps control undesirable resonances. This construction approach—characteristic of Audio‑Technica, a Japanese brand founded in 1962 and renowned for its recording and sound reproduction solutions—aims for acoustic neutrality.
The straight, statically balanced tonearm has an effective length of 221.5 mm. It features a damped hydraulic lift and is adjusted via a traditional counterweight, unlike the spring mechanisms of entry-level models. This design allows precise tracking force adjustment, a key parameter for preserving records and ensuring playback quality.
The external power supply is a notable technical detail. By moving AC/DC conversion outside the chassis, Audio‑Technica reduces electrical interference that could contaminate the audio signal. This solution, less common in this segment, reflects careful attention to the signal path.
Fully automatic operation simplifies daily use. Select the format (12” or 7”) via the size selector, then press the Start button to automatically cue the arm and begin playback. At the end of the record, the arm returns to its rest and the platter stops.
Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity enables streaming to compatible headphones and speakers within a range of about 10 meters. The AT-LP3XBT supports Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and aptX codecs, as well as standard SBC. This broad compatibility ensures optimal transmission according to the receiving device’s capabilities. A dedicated button activates the wireless function, indicated by an LED.
The built-in phono preamplifier, switchable between Phono and Line, allows direct connection to any type of amplification. RIAA equalization is applied in Line mode, delivering a 252 mV signal suitable for standard auxiliary inputs.
The AT-LP3XBT retains the overall architecture of the AT-LP3 while bringing targeted improvements. The integration of the Bluetooth module is the most visible upgrade, but other technical changes accompany this update.
The AT-VM95C cartridge replaces the previous model within Audio‑Technica’s VM95 series. This moving-magnet cartridge features a 0.015 mm conical stylus mounted on an aluminum cantilever. Its compatibility with all styli in the VM95 range offers upgrade paths to suit needs and budget.
The RCA cable is now detachable on this version, simplifying connections and allowing replacement if needed. This seemingly minor change improves installation convenience and long-term maintenance.
The AT-HS3 universal headshell accommodates most cartridges on the market weighing between 14.5 and 20 grams. This flexibility allows adaptation to different pressings and sonic preferences. The 19 mm overhang setting enables geometric optimization based on the installed model.
The turntable supports 33⅓ and 45 RPM, with a single adapter included. The hinged dust cover protects the mechanism between uses and remains removable for specific setups.
All accessories required for operation are included: platter mat, drive belt, counterweight, interconnect cable, and power adapter. This “ready-to-use” approach avoids additional purchases for commissioning.
No, the Bluetooth and RCA outputs cannot operate simultaneously. You must choose one mode of output or the other.
Yes, the AT-HS3 universal headshell accepts most cartridges on the market weighing between 14.5 and 20 grams. Styli from the VM95 series are directly compatible.
The turntable can store multiple Bluetooth devices but can only stream to one at a time. Reconnection is then done with a single press of the dedicated button.

The turntable looks good and seems to be of good quality compared to today’s standards.
It’s a gift for my daughter; the turntable is easy to set up and use.
The sound is VERY DECENT. What I like are the upgrade options it offers.
Very good product.

Very good turntable at a fairly reasonable price. However, the package did not include an adapter for 45 rpm vinyl records (Is this normal?).
Overall, it can be set up without much difficulty (except - for me - adjusting the counterweight of the tonearm).
The turntable is quite quiet in operation and the sound of the music (classical guitar, jazz, blues, ...) is very pleasant and, in my case, well exploited by a Marantz SR 7015 amplifier (Focal speakers).
Haven't tried it with Bluetooth.
