The AM200 Evolution is the latest addition to the French brand Atoll Electronique’s range of power amplifiers. This stereo unit delivers 2 x 120 W into 8 ohms, and up to 2 x 200 W into 4 ohms. Thanks to its double push-pull MOS-FET transistor output stage, it is capable of delivering an impulse power of 300 W per channel.
The AM200 Evolution stands out for its generous power supply, made up of two 340 VA toroidal transformers and a total filtering capacity of 59,420 µF. This energy reserve allows it to respond instantly to the most demanding dynamic peaks and to maintain optimal control over the speakers.
True to Atoll Electronique’s reputation, the AM200 Evolution benefits from a carefully engineered design aimed at optimizing audio performance. Its fully dual-mono architecture and symmetrical stages using discrete components ensure perfect channel separation and high sonic precision.

Despite its power, the AM200 Evolution is versatile and easy to integrate into different setups. It can be used on its own or in bi-amping with a preamplifier such as Atoll’s PR300 Signature. An internal switch also allows it to be converted into a mono block for even more power (up to 360 W into 8 ohms).
In terms of connectivity, the AM200 Evolution features a stereo RCA analog input and a 12V Trigger input for automatic power-on when linked to a preamplifier. The gold-plated screw speaker terminals ensure a reliable, high-quality connection to the speakers.
Aesthetically, the AM200 Evolution adopts the brand’s signature style with an 8 mm thick brushed aluminum front panel. Only the “Evolution” marking on the chassis sets it apart from the Signature versions. This clean, timeless design allows the amplifier to blend harmoniously into any interior.

It’s an excellent amp. I use it in home theater to power the front speakers. To me, this amp is designed more for high-fidelity than for home cinema. Connected to the Yamaha RXA6A, it’s truly brilliant for music. I can feel the difference compared to the AV100 on that point at least (more depth and emotion). Even though it holds its own in home theater, I think in the near future I’ll pair it with a good network player and use it only in hi-fi to get the most out of it.

Very good amplifier paired with the Atoll PR200 and Dynaudio Emit 50.
Relatively powerful and neutral in a compact form factor.
A pair of XLR inputs would be a plus, but not essential in my setup.
