Its aluminum casing, slightly larger than its predecessors, measures 123x75x19mm and weighs a modest 215g. The metallic gray finish offers better resistance to fingerprints compared to earlier models.

Beneath this refined exterior lies an impressive array of technology. At its core is a next-generation Burr-Brown DAC, renowned for its natural musicality and “True Native” architecture. This converter is paired with a low-latency 16-core XMOS microcontroller, with firmware optimized by iFi engineers to maximize the DAC’s potential.

Temporal precision is ensured by the in-house developed femto-precision GMT (Global Master Timing) clock, coupled with an intelligent memory buffer to eliminate jitter. Together, these technologies deliver digital-to-analog conversion with exceptional purity and fidelity.

Uncompromising Versatility

The xDSD Gryphon stands out for its ability to handle a wide range of high-resolution audio formats. It can natively decode PCM streams up to 32-bit/768 kHz, DSD512, DXD768, and MQA. This extensive compatibility makes it an ideal companion for fans of digital music, regardless of their preferred format.

Connectivity is equally impressive, with USB-C and S/PDIF digital inputs, as well as an analog input for traditional sources. The integrated Bluetooth 5.1, featuring a Qualcomm QCC5100 chipset, supports high-definition codecs like aptX HD, LDAC, and HWA/LHDC, offering wireless freedom without compromising quality.

On the output side, the xDSD Gryphon provides a 3.5mm single-ended headphone jack and a 4.4mm balanced Pentaconn output. Its amplification, capable of delivering up to 1000 mW at 32 Ω in balanced mode, ensures optimal compatibility with a wide range of headphones and earphones.

Tailored Sound with Innovative Features

iFi Audio has equipped the xDSD Gryphon with several features to fine-tune the sound according to user preferences and the equipment used. The XBass II circuit offers three bass equalization modes: “Bass” to enhance low frequencies, “Presence” to emphasize upper mids, and “Bass + Presence” combining both effects.

The XSpace function, on the other hand, aims to expand the soundstage, compensating for the “in-your-head” localization effect often experienced with headphones. These adjustments are performed entirely in the analog domain, preserving the integrity of the digital signal.

For sensitive in-ear monitors (IEMs), the integrated IEMatch circuit reduces output levels, minimizing background noise and providing a wider volume adjustment range. These options allow the xDSD Gryphon’s sound to be finely tailored to any listening setup.
