Built-in Wi-Fi and Wireless Direct for Simplified Connectivity

If no Wi-Fi router is available, the Wireless Direct function will not only allow you to stream your music directly from your smartphone or tablet via AirPlay or MusicPlay, but also to control your amplifier using the AV Controller app.

Network Functions

This amplifier offers a range of network functions that facilitate its use and allow access to additional sources. You can connect the amplifier to a computer to listen to Internet radio, Spotify®*, Pandora®*, and control your system via Web Browser Control. The AV Controller app (available on the iTunes AppStore and Android Market) allows you to control various functions of the amplifier from an iPod, iPhone, iPad or Android Smartphone/Tablet.

YPAO-R.S.C. (Reflected Sound Control) Audio Optimization

In just a few minutes, YPAO calibration automatically adjusts numerous parameters to provide optimal sound based on the listening room. This system uses Reflected Sound Control technology to correct the negative effects of sound refraction, in order to obtain a studio-quality audio environment without specific acoustic treatment of your room. This exclusive Yamaha technology relies on the use of two Surround speakers and a center speaker placed at the front for a high-resolution 7-channel Surround field, with incredible virtual reproduction of the rear channels.

Subwoofer Trim for improved sound imaging

The Subwoofer Trim control boosts low frequencies without encroaching on the front speaker’s sound reproduction. The result is a clearer sound field with a smooth frequency response. Usually, when frequencies overlap in an audio-video system, the entire sound is “pushed” towards the subwoofer. Subwoofer Trim avoids this issue by clearly separating the low frequencies, stabilizing the front sound field, and providing powerful, balanced bass.

Intelligent Amp Assign

The Intelligent Amp Assign function automatically assigns amplifier channels to specific speakers based on the selected functions. For example, on a 7.1 system, when Zone 2 is disabled, all channels are directed to the Main Zone. If Zone 2 is enabled, the signal from the two surround back channels is directed to the two Zone 2 speakers, leaving the Main Zone in 5.1. Similarly, when CINEMA DSP 3D mode is enabled, the two front Presence speakers are powered, but not the two surround back speakers. When CINEMA DSP 3D is disabled, the opposite occurs. With Intelligent Amp Assign, there’s no need to change the cable connections on the back of the amplifier – just another way Yamaha makes your life easier.
