The Sonos Port is a network audio player designed to connect your existing equipment to the Sonos ecosystem. Succeeding the Sonos Connect, this compact black unit allows you to easily integrate your Hi-Fi setup into multiroom music streaming and modernize your listening experience.
The Sonos Port stands out for its great flexibility in terms of connections. On the back of the device, there is an RCA analog input for connecting a turntable, a CD player, or any other audio source. An RCA analog output and a coaxial digital output are also available to connect the Port to an amplifier or receiver.
On the network side, the Port features two Ethernet ports for a stable wired connection, as well as dual-band Wi‑Fi for wireless integration into your Sonos setup. Compatibility with AirPlay 2 also makes it easy to stream music from your Apple devices.
A 12V trigger completes the connectivity, allowing your amplifier to turn on automatically when an audio signal is detected. A convenient feature for simplified everyday use.
Despite its compact size, the Sonos Port makes no compromises on audio quality. Its internal DAC (digital-to-analog converter) ensures precise signal conversion for faithful reproduction of your analog sources on the Sonos network.
Audio transmission is lossless with no perceptible latency between different rooms equipped with Sonos speakers. Whether you’re listening to vinyl in the living room or streaming music from your smartphone, the sound stays perfectly synchronized throughout the house.
Like all of the brand’s products, the Port integrates perfectly with the Sonos ecosystem. The Sonos mobile app, available on iOS and Android, lets you intuitively control your entire audio system. You can select your sources, adjust volume independently in each room, or tweak audio settings such as bass and treble levels.
Compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants also enables voice control when the Port is paired with a compatible smart speaker.
With its compact dimensions of 138 x 138 x 41 mm, the Sonos Port blends seamlessly into your setup. Its matte black finish helps it fit elegantly among your other audio components. A simple front LED indicates the device’s operating status.
This compactness is particularly valuable in multiroom setups, where multiple Ports can be stacked without overheating issues. The reduced form factor also allows up to three Ports to fit on a standard 1U rack shelf, optimizing space in professional installations.
One of the main advantages of the Sonos Port is its ability to give your existing Hi‑Fi gear a new lease on life. By connecting your amplifier or passive speakers to the Port, you instantly gain Sonos multiroom streaming features without having to replace your entire system.
This approach preserves the sonic qualities of your high-end equipment while letting you enjoy modern streaming services and the simplified control offered by the Sonos app. An excellent way to bridge audiophile tradition and today’s technologies.
Beyond serving as a gateway to the Sonos world, the Port can also act as a central hub for all your audio sources. Connect your turntable, CD player, or your television, and stream their sound to any Sonos speaker in the home.
This versatility makes it a key component for centralizing and simplifying your home audio setup. No more juggling different inputs or remotes—everything is accessible and controllable from the Sonos app.
Can the Sonos Port be used with a TV?
While the Port can technically receive a TV’s audio via its analog input, it isn’t optimized for this use due to potential latency. For TV use, it’s better to opt for specific Sonos products like the Beam or the Arc.
What is the main difference between the Port and the older Sonos Connect?
The Port brings several improvements over the Connect: a more compact design, better audio quality with a 10 dB improved signal-to-noise ratio, the addition of a 12V trigger, and AirPlay 2 compatibility.
Can I use the Sonos Port without other Sonos products?
Yes, the Port can be used on its own as an audio receiver to stream music to an existing Hi‑Fi system. However, it reaches its full potential within a broader Sonos ecosystem.
Is the Port compatible with turntables?
Absolutely. You can connect a turntable equipped with a phono preamp to the Port’s analog input to stream your vinyl records across your entire Sonos system.
What is the maximum audio resolution supported by the Sonos Port?
The Port supports playback of audio files up to 16‑bit / 44.1 kHz, which corresponds to CD quality.

It allows you to include your home cinema installation in the Sonos environment (in full stereo to avoid the latencies of your amplifier's processing). You can also connect a turntable or other RCA source. It does what it's designed to do.

We enjoy the Sonos system throughout the house, including in the living room thanks to the Port. The installation is very simple, and the Sonos app works well. Very happy with the product. Haven't tested the auxiliary input yet.
