Projeo Motion HD 106
Projeo Motion HD 106, motorized 16:9 projection screen
A large projection screen takes up space, and it is always visible. Motorization gets around this constraint: the screen lowers for the duration of a viewing session, then rises back into its casing, and the wall regains its original appearance. The Projeo Motion HD 106 applies this principle to a 106-inch diagonal in 16:9 format, with a matte white screen calibrated for long-throw video projectors.
A compact casing and three mounting options
The casing measures 8.2 cm on each side, in white lacquered metal. This reduced cross-section matters during installation: mounted at the top of a wall or against a ceiling, the housing blends into the background once the screen is raised. On the 106-inch version, it extends to 265.2 cm, slightly more than the width of the visible image area, which reaches 234.6 cm. It is therefore better to plan for a wall section or ceiling clearance greater than the stated diagonal.
The screen supports three types of mounting: wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted, or suspended. Movement is driven by a synchronous motor, which lowers and raises the screen at a constant speed. Once the viewing session is over, the screen retracts fully into the casing, protected from dust between uses.
Matte white, gain 1: neutral reproduction
The screen is matte white, with a gain of 1. This figure requires an explanation. Gain compares the light reflected by the screen to that of a reference surface; a gain of 1 indicates that the screen reproduces the projector’s light without amplifying or reducing it. Colors and contrast differences reach the eye as the projector produces them, with no added cast or correction.
This neutrality goes hand in hand with a viewing angle of 170°. Viewing angle describes the range over which the image retains its brightness and uniformity. At 170°, a viewer seated well off to the side sees essentially the same image as a viewer seated directly in front of the screen, without a brighter central area, the hotspot effect produced by some high-gain screens.
A gain-1 screen has its trade-off: it does not compensate for ambient light. In a lit room, the image loses contrast. The Motion HD 106 performs at its best in a living room that can be darkened, or with a sufficiently bright projector. The surface is tensioned on its sides, which keeps it flat and eliminates the ripples visible on non-tensioned screens. It is calibrated for long-throw video projectors, installed at a distance from the screen, on the ceiling or at the back of the room.
Infrared control and wall switch
Control is handled in two ways. An infrared remote control operates the control system integrated into the casing. A remote infrared sensor is included: it is placed in a visible spot in the room when the casing itself is concealed or mounted too high to receive the signal directly. A wall switch completes the setup, with three commands: up, stop, and down.
The stop button interrupts travel at any height. However, the technical sheet does not mention a trigger input to automatically synchronize the screen with a projector powering on: control remains manual, via remote control or switch. On the power side, the screen is supplied with a European-type 220 V cord and a 4.7 m cable, a length to take into account when positioning the outlet during installation.
Four diagonals, one single design
The Motion HD comes in four diagonals: 77, 92, 106, and 120 inches. All share the same 16:9 format, the same matte white screen, and the same mechanism; only the dimensions change. The 106 model displays a visible image area of 234.6 by 132 cm. Its weighted bar, which weighs down the bottom of the screen and contributes to its vertical tension, measures 248 cm.
The image is framed by black borders of unequal widths: 40 mm, 55 mm, and a 500 mm band that forms a drop. The latter moves the image surface away from the casing and provides flexibility to adjust projection height independently of the housing’s mounting point. When purchasing, the choice of diagonal mainly depends on the available viewing distance and wall width. The package for the 106 model measures 288.6 cm in length and must remain horizontal during transport as well as storage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Motion HD 106 compatible with an ultra-short-throw video projector?
The screen is calibrated for long-throw projectors, positioned at a distance from the screen. An ultra-short-throw projector, placed just below the surface, projects its light at a very shallow angle. On a standard matte white screen, this angle brings out the texture of the fabric and accentuates brightness differences. This type of projector requires a screen with a dedicated structure. The Motion HD 106 does not fall into that category.
Can the screen be stopped halfway down?
Yes. The wall switch and the remote control include a stop command that halts movement at the desired position. The screen can therefore remain partially unrolled, for example to suit an image shorter than the maximum diagonal. The technical sheet does not mention preset positions: each intermediate stop is adjusted manually at the time of use.
Is a recessed mounting box required for installation?
No. The three intended mounting methods are wall mounting, ceiling mounting, and suspension. The white lacquered metal casing remains visible in all three cases. No recessed installation kit, which would house the casing in a false ceiling, appears among the documented configurations.
Is the 16:9 format suitable for widescreen films?
The Motion HD 106 screen is in 16:9 format. A film shot in 2.35:1, common in cinema, will therefore be displayed with two black bars at the top and bottom of the image, and the actually projected width will remain smaller than that of the screen. For content natively in 16:9, such as television or streaming platforms, the surface is used in its entirety.
