The 75C7L achieves this with the eighth generation of TCL’s SQD Mini LED technology and 1,352 local dimming zones, beneath a 4K panel compatible with the main HDR formats. The brand also adds a fast game mode and a sound system tuned by Bang & Olufsen.

A 75-inch panel pushed to 3,000 nits

The backlight is based on the eighth generation of the brand’s in-house SQD Mini LED technology, where SQD stands for the Super Quantum Dots used to widen the color palette. On the 75-inch diagonal, TCL distributes 1,352 local dimming zones, each of which can be turned off or driven independently. The stated peak brightness reaches 3,000 nits, enough to give sparkle to the highlights in an HDR scene without washing out the rest of the image. The HVA 2.0 Pro-type panel targets high native contrast and maintains deep blacks in dim lighting.

This division into zones remains the Mini LED’s structural weak point: around a bright object on a dark background, a slight light halo (“blooming”) may remain. With more than thirteen hundred zones and a refined control algorithm, TCL keeps this effect under better control than previous generations, without erasing it entirely as a self-emissive panel would.

Color accuracy aligned with the BT.2020 standard

The color argument comes down to one figure: 100% coverage of the BT.2020 space, the widest reference standard used for Ultra HD content. Reaching this target without using separate red, green, and blue LEDs remains rare, and TCL makes it one of the highlights of this generation. In practice, this results in stable saturated reds and greens without hue shift.

On the extended dynamic range format side, the 75C7L supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced certification. Dolby Vision IQ deserves a mention: it adjusts image rendering according to the ambient light measured by a sensor, useful when the room goes from broad daylight to darkness. Filmmaker mode, meanwhile, disables image processing to stay as close as possible to the director’s intent.

A 144 Hz game mode with advanced VRR

The panel displays natively at 144 Hz in 4K, a frequency that benefits both recent games and animated content. To go further, the TV goes up to 288 Hz thanks to DLG (Dual Line Gate), a trick that doubles the frequency by dividing the vertical resolution: it then switches to 1080p to gain fluidity, a compromise designed for PC gamers seeking responsiveness. The 4K signal at 144 Hz passes through the HDMI 2.1 inputs, the only ones on the device to offer this bandwidth.

The rest of the gaming arsenal is present: AMD FreeSync Premium Pro compatibility to prevent screen tearing, automatic low latency mode, and a “Game Master” menu that groups together the useful settings when gaming. Display latency drops to a level that does not penalize fast-paced games.

Sound tuned in Bang & Olufsen studios

The sound system, in a 2.2 configuration, has been tuned by Bang & Olufsen engineers, TCL’s audio partner for its high-end ranges. In practical terms, side-firing and upward-firing speakers handle Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, with sound reproduction that gains more depth on movie soundtracks. The BeoSonic interface, also signed by B&O, lets you shift the character of the sound between four tendencies (warmer, clearer, more relaxed, or more energetic) without juggling an equalizer.

Like any system integrated into a thin chassis, these speakers have their limits in the bass and with demanding music listening. This is where Dolby Atmos FlexConnect comes in: the 75C7L can wirelessly control compatible speakers to build an immersive system, freed from the placement constraints of a traditional wired installation.

Google TV and hands-free voice control

The interface is handled by Google TV, with streaming services aggregated on a single home screen and Google Assistant accessible by voice, with a microphone built into the TV for hands-free commands. AirPlay 2 compatibility enables streaming from an iPhone or a Mac, while HDMI CEC controls connected devices from a single remote. Wireless connectivity relies on Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4 for headphones or portable speakers. An electronic program guide (EPG) completes the traditional TV side.

Thin chassis, central stand, and wall mounting

Without its stand, the TV measures just 57 mm thick and weighs 24.6 kg, with the metal frame staying discreet around the panel (a design TCL calls Zero Border, where the image occupies almost the entire surface). Placed on its central stand, the whole set rises to 99.5 cm in height for 26.6 kg, which requires a piece of furniture at least 1.67 m wide.

For wall mounting, the fixture follows the VESA standard, from 300 x 300 mm to 750 x 500 mm depending on the chosen bracket. The central stand, rather than one at two ends, allows the use of a narrower piece of furniture than the diagonal might suggest.
