Founded in 1887 as a musical instrument manufacturer, Yamaha entered the audio electronics market in 1954 with its first hi-fi amplifier. The company later diversified, launching stereo HiFi equipment in 1968 and professional sound systems in 1969. Over the decades, Yamaha has innovated with flagship products such as the NS-1000M speakers in the 1970s and the first multiroom audio system in 2003. To strengthen its position, Yamaha acquired key companies like Steinberg (2005), NEXO (2008), and Line 6 (2014).
